Today last year WHO officially declared Covid19 as a pandemic. The writings were on the wall. At that time cases in Italy were soaring, the worst region affected beyond China. What followed the world was shutting down, lockdown after lockdown was announced in more and more countries.
During the first wave, people in several countries in Europe applauded medical staff. Now, in the first anniversary of this ongoing world disaster I want to thank those very same medical staff who are exerting themselves providing healthcare. Some have had the virus and survived it, many have lost their colleagues or family. Some have been promised a bonus but have not received it yet, several have been avoided by ignorant people in their surrounding due to their working with Covid patients. Despite all of this, they keep on going taking care of the infected.
Thank you. It has been a year.
