I am Indonesian married to an Indische-Nederlander, living in The Netherlands since 1995 in a small town nearby German border.
- a loving wife
- a working mom in web analytics with MarCom background
- a mother of a millennial
- a foodie
- a history nerd
- a curious traveler
- multilingual (Bahasa Indonesia, Dutch, English, French, Spanish and a bit German)
After years living in NL, I have adjusted to Dutch customs but am still proud being an Indonesian (think of the delicious, tasty food & rich culture). Wayang (both Ramayana and Mahabharata Epics), the history of Majapahit and old Rome and the last but not least, Greek Legends fascinate me.
With an artist as father, I grew up as a hippie child in Jakarta, among comics (Marvel’s Heroes, Alex Raymond’s Flash Gordon, Esteban Maroto’s Vampirella and many more), Indonesian Arts, Paintings, Literature and Rock ‘n Roll ( Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan etc.). Due to my fascination for France I declared myself a Francophil. Especially French Impressionism has captived me for good.
Reason for blogging
Writing works therapeutic for me. This blog is my online home where I share my life here with my family and friends in Indonesia. Since 2009 I have owned an SLR camera which allows me to explore photography. Today I use mirrorless camera and that on my cell phone. Images used in this blog I mostly shot myself. If not, you see the sources.
Chez Lorraine is my online home where I share my own thoughts based of my own experiences and observations of daily life, Indonesian, Dutch and world affairs. From time to time I review books and movies.
Every Monday is a Music Monday post. I stopped writing Music Monday.
I studied Communication Studies at HAN University of Applied Sciences. Now I work in
Marketing Communication field Web Analytics field. You see this background shown in tips, tricks and infographics I share about social media, blogging and communications here.
I love and am enormously fascinated by foreign languages. Being born and bred in Jakarta, Bahasa Indonesia is my mother tongue. Living and working in The Netherlands since 1995 I speak Dutch on full professional proficiency.
I studied French Literature in Universitas Indonesia. I am interested in etymology, linguistics, semantics, accents, verbal and non-verbal communications in foreign languages. You see my love for foreign languages in the posts which are categorized under language and study. Most of the posts are written in English which is my third language. So bear with me if you find some mistakes.
Passion for food
I love to eat, cook and bake. My cooking books collection is still expanding. Sometimes I even read them in bed! Visit Lo Foodie to know more about this particular passion of mine.
You are free to leave some comments at Chez Lorraine (chez means house/home in French) as long as you keep it nice and polite, even when you disagree with what I write here.
