My winter getaway in Marrakech end of January seems so long ago. I was wondering should I share more Marrakech travel stories during this pandemic? Then I become aware that I started this blog as a journal. Therefore I have decided to keep sharing my stories and thoughts, even when they are not pandemic related. I am doing this not because I am ignorant or tone deaf of the current suffering and gloom hanging over us right now but it is my way of reminiscing how life was before COVID-19.
A month ago I flee Dutch winter for a short getaway to Marrakech, Morocco. Leaving the somber and dark Low Lands early in the morning, by the afternoon I landed in Menara Airport, it was sunny and pleasant weather at 24 degrees Celsius.
During my summer holiday last in in Thailand I tried to taste as much food as possible. As someone who love to eat, my preparation visiting Thailand is by watching vlogs and reading blogs/mags about the food. After all a great number of tourists comes to visit the country to taste the (street) food, right?
Ayutthaya, established in 1351, was capital of the Siam Kingdom. The city grew as an important trade point until in 1767 Burmese troops looted and destroyed it. From then on the former capital was left, neglected until it was rediscovered and sadly some temples severely plundered. After renovations Ayutthaya has been declared a historical park with its temples and ruins.
