Last week Beyoncé issued an essay stating that Gender equality is a myth.
Why oh why has she become a feminist warrior if what she does is in contrast to what she preaches?
Browsing on the net about this statement, I know I am not the only one who are left confused with the contradiction of her message.
Yes, she is empowered. She is one of the richest entertainers in the industry and she is even married to one. She earns her money and fame by working hard starting from her youth.
Equality will be achieved when men and women are granted equal pay and equal respect.
How could she demand respect when she positions herself as a sex object for another gender? Preaching about gender equality while wearing skimpy and much revealing outfit (I have seen enough of the glitter bodice) does not help her convincing her message. Skimpy is different than sexy. Sexy can be classy while skimpy, nahh.
We have to teach our boys the rules of equality and respect, so that as they grow up, gender equality becomes a natural way of life.
Begin with your own husband honey. He raps in his song about bitches referring to women.
As a married feminist I have been left confused with Beyoncé. I am not her hater though, I am just confused. She might see wearing skimpy clothes as an act of empowerment, not being shy of her own sexuality while to me it is a part of her marketing machine to gain more income and fame. This huge contradiction is an obstacle for me to understand her message well. Can anybody help me out?
