Now that my daughter G has become a teen, we do things together more often like doing our nails or watching series, movies. It’s our bonding time as mother daughter without my husband. G calls this our girls moment. Last week we had our girls moment by watching The Bachelorette.
G loves Rebel Wilson who plays the lead character in this movie. That’s why we chose it. Here is the story in brief.
Three girlfriends (Kirsten Dunst, Isla Fisher, Lizzy Caplan) are asked to be the bridesmaid of the girl they used to bully at highschool (Rebel Wilson). During the bachelorette party, or after that, these three ruin the wedding dress. The story is about how they try to fix the dress on time for the wedding the following day.
Of course this doesn’t go smoothly. There are obstacles, distractions and reflection moments before the wedding day comes. At the end, the bullied girl walks down the aisle happily. She marries the love of her life while the three mean girls ah, I don’t know what they do. If it wasn’t for G I couldn’t finish watching this movie.
This is the worst movie I have seen in years after Alex Cross. Maybe it’s a generation gap (I might be too old for this) or I just simply didn’t get it but hey I enjoyed watching The Bridesmaids and I think The Hangover 1,2,3 are awesome. Those movies are also about bachelor/bachelorette party gone wrong. I find Bachelorette’s storyline not quite convincing.
Picture this: How pathetic are you to ask your former bullies to be your bridesmaids. Bachelorette turns to be a black comedy which is according to me not funny at all. It’s rather annoying to see those selfish bullies trying to fix up the wedding dress of their so called girlfriend. I just wonder, the story of The Hangover 1,2,3 is larger than life also (a tiger in your room, a stealing monkey, you name it) but why is it entertaining while Bachelorette fails to do so? It is such a shame with a strong cast this movie has such as Isla Fisher, Kirsten Dunst and Rebel Wilson. Oh, James Marsden is on the movie too.
Despite this miserable 90 minutes waste of time I had a good time observing how G reacted to some scenes. Of course I provided her some motherly advises, please don’t be a bully otherwise you’d end up like those three. And we will carry on with our girls moments as there are many series, movies and books to explore.
