The author

I’m Indonesian married to an Indische-Nederlander, living in a Dutch small town nearby German border. I moved in 1995 to the Netherlands. I’m a working mom, a foodie wannabe, an avid beginner in photography and a history nerd. I graduated in French Literature at University of Indonesia in Jakarta. This declares my interest for foreign languages. My passion about communication comes from my Communication studies which I completed here in the HAN University of Applied Sciences.

Good things from 2 cultures
After years living in NL, I can say I have adjusted to Dutch customs but am still proud being an Indonesian (think of the delicious, tasty food & rich culture). I’m very fond of Wayang (both Ramayana and Mahabharata Epics), the history of Majapahit and old Rome and the last but not least, Greek Legends.

My youth
As an artist’s daughter, I grew up as a hippie child in Jakarta, among comics (Marvell’s Heroes, Alex Raymond’s Flash Gordon, Esteban Maroto’s Vampirella and many more), Indonesian Arts, Paintings, Literature and Rock ‘n Roll ( Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan etc.). Due to my fascination for France I dare to call myself a Francophil. Especially French Impressionism has captived me for good.

Reason for blogging
I really love to write so I started this blog to share my life here with my family and friends in Indonesia. Since 2009 I have owned an SLR camera which allows me to explore photography. Images used in this blog I mostly shot myself.

Passion for food
I am very passionate about food. I love to cook and bake. My cooking books collection is still expanding. Sometimes I even read cooking books in bed. I usually take pics of food and all things related to food. Visit Lo Foodie© to know more about this particular passion of mine.
